Docs in Orbit has produced over 60 podcast episodes on a volunteer footing. This means we have relied on the gracious support of our contributors, who have invested their time, attention, and energy into making this project so special.

This project began when a few of us banded together with a strong conviction that a podcast that encouraged a transnational dialogue around international, contemporary documentary filmmaking must exist. And so we launched a week into the pandemic to provide filmmakers premiering work in (virtual) film festivals a space to connect with other filmmakers interested in their creative process.

Fueled by the connections we experienced throughout the process of making each episode and the community we felt with our listeners, we continued producing episodes while festivals transitioned back to in-person events.

However, there inevitably comes a time when operating on a volunteer-run production model (paired with an aversion to running advertisements as a source of revenue) is no longer sustainable. It is fun but it is also a lot of work. So, we are calling in partnerships with film festivals that find value in these episodes and understand the energy required to produce each one to support Docs in Orbit as an independent entity.

If you have enjoyed our episodes and have the means to support this initiative, please consider making a contribution to help us cover the costs of future episodes.

We are grateful to do this work and immensely grateful to be in your orbit ✨
